No ill person should recover in a rusty hospital bed. However, this is still reality for most Malawian people. Malawi is a developing country, but still needs a lot of support. I was asked to set up a crowd funding campaign. For this project I travelled to Malawi to document the situation. Sakaramenta was my client, a beautiful Malawian steel company. The company was set up by a Dutchman and is maintained by the local population. They wanted to supply furniture to hospitals in need with the support of the Dutch population.
Smaller hospitals in villages called ‘health centres’ are off the radar of donors willing to help, because of their location and reach. The funding I set up, called Plan Care, focuses on these smaller hospitals and their challenging circumstances. The money raised through the crowd funding is invested durably, as the local company can maintain the products regularly.
